- Abstract
The mechanical behavior of rolling tires is computed by Finite Element Methods (FEM). For an efficient numerical procedure a relative kinematics description based on an Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) formulation is introduced. This formulation enables a time-independent description of stationary rolling processes. However, special emphasis has to be led onto the treatment of the inelastic behavior of the rubber material. A new efficient algorithm for the integration of the advection equations for the inelastic internal variables will be introduced in this presentation. Herewith, a mathematical consistent approach for the computation of rolling contact problems including in-elastic material properties is provided.
